First salmon of 2024 season caught on River Brora

The first salmon of the season has been caught on the River Brora, head water bailiff Martin Livings has reported.

The 6.5lb fish was caught on the Black Water, a tributary of the River Brora, yesterday, Thursday, February 15.

Mr Livings said that local angler Graham Davidson caught the fish in Pool Pheadair with a Dee Monkey fly in approximately three feet of water.

The river opened on February 1
