Fine and ban for drug-driver stopped at Melvich

A motorist caught at more than three times the drug-driving limit was fined £400 and banned for 18 months at Wick Sheriff court on Wednesday.

Joshua Barker, of Roughcote Lane, Caverswall, Staffordshire, pleaded guilty to the offence.

Police stopped the 25-year-old on the A836 at Melvich on June 5, last year.

He gave a positive drugs swipe and analysis revealed a reading of 6.9mcg for the cannabis-based Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. The legal limit is 2mcg.
