Fiddler player Ryan Young to perform at Old School Embo as a thank you to Sutherland Sessions

Fiddler extraordinaire Ryan Young plays a rare Scottish date on Saturday, March 9, at the Old School in Embo.

He is squeezing in a special Sutherland Sessions appearance to thank the volunteer music promoters for booking him in the early days of his career.

Since then, Ryan, from Cardross near Loch Lomond, has released two albums and toured North America and Australia in the last six months. He will be touring mainland Europe shortly after his visit to Embo.

Ryan holds both First Class Honours and Masters degrees from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

He was named Up And Coming Artist of the Year at the Scots Trad Awards in 2017 and won Folking.com’s Musician of the Year title in 2018. Ryan was nominated for Live Act of the Year at the Trads last December.

Ryan will be accompanied in Embo by Gillie O’Flaherty on guitar. Gillie is originally from Ullapool and now lives in Glasgow where he is studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

In the support slot will be singer/guitarist David Delacroix who is hails from the USA but currently lives in Golspie. The event starts at 7.30pm.
