Tragedy strikes charity fundraising Platinum Jubilee Great Wilderness Challenge in the Highlands as female participant dies during 13-mile walk

A female participant collapsed and passed away during the Great Wilderness Challenge which raises money for good causes.
Emergency services, including paramedics, went to the scene while police also closed the road into Poolewe.
The annual event, which returned on Saturday after an absence of two years, takes place in Wester Ross.
There is a choice of a 25-mile strenuous route from Dundonnell to Poolewe plus less arduous 13 and seven-mile and 10k routes.
The woman who died was taking part in the 13-mile route.
A post on the Great Wilderness Challenge website expressed condolences for her family and friends.
"The GWC Committee would like to thank all those who assisted following the tragic incident at Inveran on Saturday when a female participant collapsed and passed away on the 13 mile circular walk," it stated.
"Medical teams, paramedics,Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, HM Coastguard and PDG Helicopters deserve utmost thanks for carrying out a successful evacuation plan for over 200 people still out on the routes after the road into Poolewe was closed by the police.
"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the deceased at this very sad and difficult time. "Words cannot express our collective sadness on a day which had started with such happiness and goodwill."
This year, the event was honoured in being selected to be part of The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The main beneficiary this year is the Highland Hospice and in addition the event supports several other charities taking part to raise funds for their own particular special causes.
These charities include MS Therapy Centre Inverness, Crossroads Skye, Skye and Lochalsh Young Carers, Highland Senior Citizens Network, Inverness Samaritans, DEBRA, Gairloch Car Scheme and Gairloch Aid and Mobility Support.
