Fears grow for missing diver

A major air, land and sea search for a missing diver off the Sutherland coast was suspended yesterday evening.

Fears are growing for the diver who failed to surface from a morning dive.

The alarm was raised just before 11am on Thursday when the diver became overdue off Kinlochbervie.

The coastguard search and rescue helicopter from Stornoway, Lochinver Lifeboat, a coastguard tug and coastguard teams have all been scouring the area.

But a spokesman for Stornoway Coastguard said the search would be reviewed again in the morning.
