Golspie Bothy - the project to promote cycling and walking in the Golspie area, has reported that work on creating and improving trails at Balblair Wood has begun.

Project coordinator Amanda Wagstaffe said: "All the gorse has now been cleared and we hope to have stage one of the improvements to the paths within the woods finished by next week.

"The path works which are ongoing in Balblair and down to Littleferry, will help attract more visitors to this beauty spot as well as encourage more people to leave their cars in the village and cycle instead."

Bike racks are going to be installed to make it easier for cyclists to secure their bikes and set off on foot.

Ms Wagstaffe thanked Nature Scot operations officer for Loch Fleet Adam Rose for sourcing funding for the project.

The lifting of lockdown will see Golspie Bothy introduce a programme of led cycles and walks.

"There are exciting times ahead for walking and cycling in and around Golspie," said Ms Wagstaffe.
