They have been rehearsing for months and now, with the performance day almost upon them, excitement is mounting.

For the first time in years, Golspie High School is staging a production – the fun and family-friendly Alice the Musical, which retells Lewis Carroll’s classic tale in song, dance, narrative and drama.

The show is student-led and is being produced by the five pupils who make up the S6 Creative Industries class with their teacher, Naomi Allison.

“The only thing we are outsourcing is the interval refreshments. Everything else is just us,” said production spokesperson Layla Kingston, adding: “It has been a wonderful experience and the adrenalin is going now, definitely.”

The team have auditioned for the cast and taken on a variety of jobs themselves as well as allocating other roles.

Alice the Musical takes place on Thursday, March 16, with an afternoon show starting at 2.30pm and an evening show from 7pm. Tickets priced from £4-£8 are available from the school office as well as online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/golspie-high-school
