FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27

Dornoch Whisky Festival

The annual Dornoch Whisky Festival starts on Friday and runs until Sunday, October 29. A celebration of all things whisky, the festival is a must for whisky lovers.

A range of events is taking place in collaboration with local businesses including masterclasses, whisky and gin tastings and paired dinners.

At the heart of the festival is a commitment to education, introducing new people to the world of whisky and helping established enthusiasts to deepen their knowledge.

Waxcap Foray

Join the countryside ranger in search of waxcaps at Little Ferry on Friday 2pm-4pm. Booking required.

Community Lunch

Community lunch at the Kyle Centre, Tongue, on Friday from 12pm. Transport available from Bettyhill. 01847 611392.

Spooky Walk

Timespan Museum and Arts Centre spooky walk on Friday from 6.30pm. Meet outside the museum.

Pub Quiz

Rosehall Primary School pub quiz at the Achness Hotel on Friday 7.30pm.

Film Club

The Kyle of Sutherland Cinema Club meets at Bonar Bridge Community Hall on Friday from 7.30pm.

Halloween Party

Halloween party at Skerray Village Hall on Friday 5.30pm-8pm with music from the Loyal Misfits. Fun for all ages. Prizes for the best costume.

Bingo and Quiz Night

The Rotary Club of East Sutherland has linked with Lawson Cambusavie Hospital Friends to hold a Halloween bingo and quiz night at Brora Social Club on Friday. Doors open 7.30pm. Teams of four. All funds raised in support of Lawson Cambusavie.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28

Coffee Morning

Brighter Brora coffee morning at the Royal Marine Hotel, Brora, on Saturday 10am-12pm. Entry by donation. All proceeds to Brighter Brora.

Community Market

Halloween themed Tain Community Market at the town’s Rose Garden on Saturday 10am-2pm.

Halloween Fun

Halloween fun at Durness with a party in the village hall on Saturday from 2pm. Costumes encouraged. Bring a spooky bake for the bake-off competition. Also, book your haunted house experience: 01971 511288. Dance in the village hall on Saturday evening.

Halloween Party

Lairg Gala Week Halloween party at Lairg Community Centre tomorrow 3pm-5.30pm. For pre-school to primary seven age group.

Live Music

Helmsdale and Golspie Village Hubs have joined with the Royal Marine Hotel, Brora, to present an evening of music and dancing with Edwin Stewart at the hotel tomorrow 8pm-11pm.

Halloween dances

Halloween dance at Rosehall on Saturday 8pm-12.30am. Music from Wonderland Duo. BYOB, raffle, spooky games, table snacks. Prize for best costume. Tickets £12. Call 01549 475080.

Halloween dance at Brora Rangers Social Club on Saturday from 9pm, Music by Sandstone. £10/£5 entry. Pay at the door.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 30

Growing Group

Kyle of Sutherland Growing Group meets at Invershin Community Hall on Monday 7pm-9pm. The theme is ‘Growing fruit in your garden, what works?’

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1

Community Show

Farr High School presents the Royal Institute of Science Community Show at the school on Wednesday 6pm-7pm. Open to all members of the community. Fireballs, burning bubbles, rocket launches. To book, email: amanda.moseley@highland.gov.uk

Talk

Lorna Jappy will give a talk ‘North Highland Tales’ to Golspie Heritage Society at the Welcome, Station Road, on Wednesday from 7.30pm.
