Art pupils at Golspie High School have been challenged to come up with a logo to represent Golspie Community Council.

Secretary Henrietta Marriott suggested to community council members at their December meeting that asking students to come up with a design would engage pupils with the work of the council.

It was agreed that she should go ahead and approach the school.

Mrs Marriott reported to the community council last week: "I have had a very positive email conversation with Yasmin Borthwick, the head of the art department.

"She is very keen to be involved and pupils set to work this week to come up with designs.

"So, we will see what they produce but I thought it was a nice, positive move to get the school involved."

The chosen logo will be used on communications sent out by Ms Marriott and other community council officials.

She said: "We do send out the odd letter or card."
