The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Inverness prison has risen from less than five to 11 it has been revealed.

A Scottish Prison Service spokesman today confirmed the figure and said a number of procedures were in place.

He said: "The number has risen from less than five and it has now gone up to 11. It is still not a huge number but it is a significant increase.

"Individuals that have tested positive will be isolating from the rest of the population and measures are in place to ensure good hygiene."

The previous total was reported last week.
