Edinburgh Sutherland Association announces funding boost for 10 good causes across county

The Edinburgh Sutherland Association has announced the successful applicants in its latest round of funding.

The association is set to disburse more than £4,400 to 10 good causes across the county.

Association president Andrew Mackenzie, a Stoer native, said: “I am delighted we are again able to support good causes in the county and particularly pleased at the range of applicants this year, which allow us to donate to the west, north and east coast, as well as central Sutherland.

“This latest donation means that in 13 years we have raised and donated more than £31,000.

"We understand the importance of the support we have been able to provide to groups and individuals in Sutherland and want to thank everyone who has assisted with events and fundraising to date.”

Association secretary Steve Anderson, from Dornoch, said: “I will be writing to applicants to confirm matters soon and our treasurer Anne Macintosh (Skerray) will be in touch to make payment thereafter.”

The organisation raises money through fundraising, donations and sponsorship.

Successful applicants are:

Dornoch Primary School - £700 for a storytelling bench

TYKES - £660 for a respite break bus hire and groceries

Kyle of Sutherland Hub - £500 for arts and crafts materials

Sutherland Sessions - £500 to support traditional music gigs in East Sutherland

Rosehall Primary School Parent Council - £480 for minibus hire and a drama workshop at Eden Court

Aaron Sutherland, Talmine - £463 for music college expenses

Fèis Ghallaibh, Armadale - £300 for school visits to encourage children to attend the fèis

Fèis Chataibh, Golspie, - £300 to support tuition sessions

Community Care Assynt - £255 for tableware;

Dornoch Academy Library - £250 for an outdoor storyteller event
