A 23-year-old Tain man had sentence deferred for reports after he admitted possessing a knife in Fort William.

Jamie McCarrick of Lewes Lane, Tain appeared by video link at Inverness Sheriff Court to confirm his guilty plea to possessing a knife without reasonable excuse in Fort William on March 5, this year.

Solicitor advocate Shahid Latif asked Sheriff Ian Cruickshank to call for various reports as his client was currently on a community payback order.

He said when the case next called, a narration of the facts would be given to the court.

The sheriff ordered a social work background report and both drug treatment and testing and restriction of liberty order assessments.

McCarrick will next appear on August 9.
