East Sutherland Rescue Association (ESRA) is to hold a barbecue on Sunday, May 7, to mark the coronation of King Charles III and his wife Camilla.

And those attending the barbecue will get the chance to see ESRA’s new £140,000 lifeboat, Wildland.

The boat has been named after the company which donated funds for its purchase - Wildland Ltd is owned by Danish tycoon and north Sutherland landowner Anders Holch Povlsen.

And his donation of £250,000 also enabled the purchase of a bespoke trailer and a launch and recovery vehicle.

The lifeboat was delivered in early February but an official ceremony planned to take place at Easter to mark its arrival had to be postponed.

The barbecue on May 7 will take place from 1pm at ESRA’s new lifeboat station at Dornoch beach.
