A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The A9 is currently closed between Helmsdale and Latheron, and will be for some time. Local diversions are in place."

No further details are available at present.

It is the second road accident in the area in a week. Last Tuesday, a car crash caused the southbound lane of the A9 to be closed for a time.
