Deputy head teacher Jane Baines said: “ The children absolutely pulled it out of the hat. The dress rehearsal was great but on the night they were absolutely magical.

“We spent six weeks rehearsing all of the dances, songs, script and movement and they’ve done so well. Our two panto dames were exceptional.

“We had all the parents hissing and booing and ‘he’s behind you-ing’. It was a very joyful night.”

The children were met with a “raucous” applause at the end of the performance.

The children had been rehearsing for around six weeks to prepare for the performance.
