The committee organises a Christmas party for local children and also gifts vouchers from Dornoch shops to local pensioners in a tradition that stretches back to just after World War I.

The costs of the party and the vouchers are met by an annual fundraising sale of work which has been held for more than 40 years.

Last year it took place in Dornoch Social Club on November 16 and raised an amazing £2900.

A commitee spokeswoman said: “As always, the sale of work was well attended as well as being generously supported by the local businesses who provided raffle prizes.

“The committee wanted to find a way to thank the Dornoch community for their continued support over the years.

“We really couldn’t do without the support of individuals and businesses.”

Committee members agreed an ideal way of giving back to the entire community was to make a donation to the medical practice towards the purchase of new equipment.

This year's sale of work takes place on November 14.
