The Dornoch Academy team was a blend of youth and experience. There were three first year pupils – Kara Mackay, Mary Diracles and Ruby Fraser – and one second year, Niamh Foster.

The younger girls were bolstered by the skills of S3 pupils Chloe Matheson, Rhian Foreman, Maisie Ross, Rhea Vetters, Tieve Morrison and Neve McAffer.

Heading to Drumnadrochit, the pupils secured a comprehensive win on finals day.

Taking on Mallaig High School, the ladies showed their class, emerging with a 7-0 victory over the west coasters in the semi-final. Foreman hit five goals and Ross bagged herself a brace.

These two free-scoring ladies went on to both hit a goal a piece in the final as a far closer scoreline saw Dornoch best the home side, Glen Urquhart High School, 2-1 to seal the win.

PE teacher Sharon Mackay said, “This success is a credit to the young people. They have shown so much commitment and desire to do well and to secure another fantastic result.

"I’d also like to pay tribute to our staff, who go above and beyond to allow our pupils opportunities like this. It is what makes the Dornoch First campus such a special place to be a part of.”

The winning team show off their medals and trophy at a school assembly on Monday.
