Dornoch go forward to primary schools quiz contest finals in Aberdeen after winning local heat

They lost to Lairg last year but were determined not to let that happen for a second year in a row.

And months of preparation paid off for a team from Dornoch Primary School, who came top in the local round of a national Rotary Primary Schools Quiz competition.

The contest is run locally by the Rotary Club of East Sutherland and sponsored by bakery firm Harry Gow, who provided lunch.

Nine teams from primary schools across the county were welcomed to the event in Lairg Community Hall by the Rotary club’s youth chairperson Claudia Macgregor. There were more than 60 spectators. Quiz master was Alisdair Miller.

Alistair Risk, spokesman for the Rotary club, said: “Dornoch showed the rest a clean pair of heels to beat Brora and Golspie into the top position.”

The Dornoch team now move on to the final at the Beach Ballroom, Aberdeen, where they will face 30 winning teams from across Scotland.
