The Dornoch Firth Group is an independent charity set up in 2007 to serve the local community by delivering mental health and wellbeing projects.

The organisation has seven part-time staff and a team of “fantastic volunteers”.

Current projects and activities include the Men’s Shed, Ceramics Workshop, the Hut Food Larder, Natter and Nosh, Tuesday Tots, Sutherland Cares counselling service, Dornoch Emergency Resilience and others.

Funding to support the new Families and Communities Assistant post has come in part from the National Lottery Community Fund.

The post holder will be expected to work for eight hours per week during term time and will be paid £14 per hour.

The new Outdoor Toddler Group will be based at Davochfin Farm, Dornoch, and the successful applicant will be involved in the development of the group - researching forest school ideas and trialling activities.

They will also help to develop and run a new ‘Mamas’ Club’ – a group based in Dornoch and Embo for mums to meet and socialise with a focus on them and their child.

A spokesperson for the Dornoch Firth Group said: “The candidate will help promote the group, welcome families, read stories, do bug hunts, sing songs and support parents and carers.”

The group is looking for someone who has experience of working or volunteering in a community setting and is “full of ideas, is able to communicate activities to different age groups and make events fun”.

Anyone interested in applying for the post is asked to email their CV and application letter stating their reasons for applying before the closing date of Sunday, January 14, to: charles@dfgcommunity.com

A salary of £14 per hour is on offer for the part-time post which is for eight hours per week in term-time.
