There has been a hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic, but the Dornoch Fibre Fest is back at last.

The much anticipated and hugely popular festival, which has been running for more than 10 years, takes place in the town on Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13.

It is a celebration of everything to do with wool, yarn, fabric, textiles, spinning, felting, knitting and sewing, and attracts interest from across the Highlands as well as further afield.

And excitement was building this week with some 'yarn bombing' going around the town to herald the festival.

An ambitious programme of masterclasses, demonstrations and learning techniques workshops of crafts has been put in place. There will also be sales tables.

Events will be held across three venues - Dornoch Social Club, Dornoch Hub and the West Church Hall - with the festival opening at 9.30am and closing at 4.30pm on both days.

Organisers have said there will be both old and new faces at the 2022 fibre fest.

New to the fibre fest is a book binding course being run by Jan Baxandall in the Dornoch Hub on Saturday.

Ms Baxandall will show participants how to make a unique notebook.

On the sales front, also making a debut in 2022 is fine Shetland wool from Dornoch resident Sally Wild's Meadows and Jan Charge' Inverhouse flocks.

Their stall can be found in the West Church Hall on both days.
