A Dornoch farming couple are offering people the chance to experience ‘live lambing’ over the Mother’s Day weekend – Friday to Saturday, March 8-10.

Rob and Emma Smith run Davochfin Farm, near Dornoch, which provides a range of amenities including fishing, a golf driving and practice range and a nine hole pitch and putt course.

In October last year the Smiths opened up a 'pumpkin patch' to the public in what is thought to have been a first for the area.

But Davochfin is also a working farm, with the Smiths tending a 100-strong flock of sheep.

The couple say the two-hour ‘lambing experience’ is a hands-on family activity, giving participants the chance to see the farm’s lambing shed and learn about lambing after care, bottle feeding and nursing pens. The cost is £20 per adult and £15 for 7-16-year-olds. Under-7s are free.

Mr Smith said: “This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get up close to Davochfin’s flock of pedigree Texels and mules, and learn more about what goes on during one of the busiest times in the farming calendar.”
