Dornoch Community Council is to hold a special meeting on Tuesday May 2 to gather information on the controversial Coul Links golf course plan.

Communities for Coul (C4C), the not for profit group behind the development, and opponents Not Coul have both been invited to make 15-minute presentations.

Community council treasurer Jerry Bishop said it would be a “fact finding mission” ahead of the community council deciding its stance on the development, a planning application for which has been lodged.

The community council is a statutory consultee and its opinion carries weight with planners. It could decide to object to the proposal, support it or simply remain neutral.

The meeting is to be held at the Dornoch Hub and online and will be open to the public – but only people resident in Dornoch and district.

A “respected” local resident will chair the meeting.
