Local Caithness coastguard teams were involved in a dramatic rescue on Saturday evening when a dog fell over a cliff at St John's Point close to the Castle of Mey.

HM Coastguard volunteers from Scrabster, Duncansby and Wick were called out to rescue Rosie the dog who had fallen around four metres down a cliff and was stuck on a small ledge near St John's Point.

A social media post from HMC Wick and Duncansby further stated: "The teams carried in the rope equipment 0.75km over very difficult terrain to the rescue scene. Rosie the dog was recovered using our animal rescue bag, uninjured, and handed back to her owners."
