This morning, a group of residents and staff at the nursing home braved the elements outside in the garden to combine their efforts and build an impressive snowman.

Meadows Care Home manager Jackie Macrae said: “We had a great time having some fun in the snow today, including myself. It brought back lots of memories of our childhoods and it brightened up all of our day. One resident, Jeanette, said she had the best day, and hadn’t had so much fun in years. She was even looking for a sledge!

"Fresh air is so important as it’s good to improve the mind, body and soul. You can visibly see a glow and smile in residents' faces when they come in from the outdoors.

"All of our activities are person-centred, so not everyone wanted to brave the elements. Others enjoyed playing games on the interactive table, or a game of bingo.

"They all joined together after to have afternoon tea and shared memories of great snow storms, such as those in 1955 and 1978."
