Highland Council is to carry out road improvement works in the centre of Dornoch, starting next week.

Work to resurface the High Street, Bridge Street and Gilchrist Square will start on Monday, March 4, and drivers are being asked to park elsewhere for the duration. The work is expected to take up to three weeks.

A Highland Council spokesperson said: "The works will be split into two operations, firstly removal of the defective sections of road surface, followed within 10 days by the laying of a new road surface. During this period vehicular access to properties immediately adjacent to the ongoing works will be restricted.

"Disruption will be kept to the minimum possible, but some should be expected. The use of a temporary road surface during this period will be inevitable.

"The spokesperson added: "Your cooperation during the period of the works is appreciated and we apologise for any disruption caused."
