Death of 22-year-old woman after B876 crash near Wick

Police Scotland have said that a young woman involved in the B876 road crash last Saturday (August 5) has died.

Road policing officers have been appealing for information after a white Audi A3 was involved in a serious road crash near to the Quoybrae junction at Kirk/Killimster on Saturday, August 5.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 22-year-old woman has died at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary during the morning of Thursday, 10 August as a result of injuries sustained in a crash in Caithness.

“She was seriously injured in a collision involving a single vehicle on the B876 close to the Quoybrae junction near Wick on Saturday, 5 August.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”

Emergency services had attended the scene of the incident on August 5 and the woman was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where hospital staff had described her condition "as critical".

Sergeant Christopher Donaldson from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Dingwall previously said: “Our investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing. I would urge anyone who saw] this car driving on the road, or who has any information that may assist us to please contact us. I am also keen to obtain any dash-cam footage that may help our inquiry.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 0741 of 5 August.”
