The 2023 Gars Tractor Run is to be held on Saturday, July 15, organisers have announced.

This year’s run is extra special in that it is 10 years since Dornoch motor mechanic Gary Macangus founded the event in aid of his favourite charity Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS).

Tragically he died suddenly, aged just 53, in December 2013 – just months after the inaugural run.

His family and friends, including wife Catherine and son Ross, vowed to carry on the event in his memory.

Despite reaching the 10-year mark, there have only been eight tractor runs with the event cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic.

An amazing, overall total of more than £85,000 has been raised, with £73,000 going to CHSS and more than £12,000 to Macmillan Nurses.

Catherine Macangus said: “Gary would have been so proud of everyone – the drivers, the bakers, cooks, organisers and especially the people who donate to these very worthy causes.”

Anyone who would like to take part in the 53-mile circular run, which starts and ends in Dornoch, is asked to contact Mrs Macangus via her social media page.
