Both the cycle and the walk will have a 10am start and participants can register in person that morning.

Sponsor forms are available on request or, alternatively, donations to the fund are welcome.

The finish line for both the walk and cycle is at Durness Village Hall where refreshments will be available.

Also planned are an auction and evening entertainment which has still to be confirmed.

A spokesman for the fund said: “We are looking forward to seeing lots of familiar faces and maybe some new faces too!”

The annual fundraiser is in memory of Durness native Marty Mackay, who passed away in 2010 from renal cancer aged just 43.

A boat builder, musician and footballer, Marty was also a firefighter and coastguard.

To date a staggering total of £159,903 has been raised and a Trust has been set up to oversee activities.

The event was due to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2020 but had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

A compilation of songs, stories and memories about Marty has been put together by his mother, Mary Mackay. For more information, visit the Marty Mackay Memorial Fund’s Facebook page.
