A Dornoch-raised photographer has captured pictures of a pod of "dancing" bottlenose dolphins which put on an amazing acrobatic display in the Minch at the weekend.

Chris Murray, a former rescue helicopter winchman and Royal Navy mine clearance diver, now lives in Stornoway and pursues his passion with some adventurous undertakings.

This summer, Chris has been found driving a fast tourist boat for Seafari out of the Lewis harbour – giving him the opportunity to capture whales, dolphins, sea eagles and a whole range of other wildlife.

"I just love photography and wildlife and the natural environment," said Chris (70).

"I have had some fantastic encounters with wildlife – including swimming with a pod of killer whales off Dounreay in Caithness. That was magical.

"But these pods of bottlenose dolphins at the weekend have been brilliant. There must have been 30 to 40 in the pod and they were dancing all over the place."
