The Crofting Commission launched the digital application system this week.

A new digital platform for crofters to access a range of applications online has been launched.

The Crofting Commission says the system has been through "a period of testing and evaluation".

It will allow crofters and their agents to digitally apply for Assignations, Decroftings, Sublets and Divisions.

The commission says that the process has been designed to be simple, efficient and inclusive.

More application types will be moved to the digital platform over the coming months.

A spokeserson for the Crofting Commission said: "The system allows the completion of an application at an applicant’s own pace from almost any internet connected device. The intuitive wizard makes sure crofters or their agents get the correct form for what they want to do every time and never have to worry about your application being rejected.

"The built-in validation makes sure that no vital information is missed, which can lead to lengthy delays when using the traditional paper forms. The system is being improved all the time with new features, such as the ability to view the real-time progress of any submitted application form which is coming soon.

"If applicants prefer to fill in a paper form, or have already started one, they can upload this and submit it to the commission digitally, to take advantage of the instant, guaranteed receipt."

The commission is encouraging all crofters or their agents to apply via the Crofting Commission website to complete their digital application to ensure the fastest, most secure application type and to minimise the risk of any unnecessary delays.
