NHS Highland close to Covid-19 booster or third dose vaccination milestone in Sutherland and the Highlands ahead of the end of the year
NHS Highland has delivered more than 20,000 doses of Covid-19 booster or third dose vaccinations in five days last week.
A total of 193,754 people in the NHS Highland area have received three doses of the vaccine, which is 81 per cent of the adult population eligible for their booster.
Dr Tim Allison, NHS Highland’s director of public health, said: “To have delivered 23,000 vaccines in the space of five days is simply astonishing.
“We reported last week that 90 per cent of all older and vulnerable people living in our area were fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Thanks to the efforts of our vaccination teams and the public coming forward to be vaccinated, that figure now stands at 95 per cent.
“We are delighted to have provided the maximum level of protection against Covid-19 to so many people in our communities. However, we recognise that more work has to be done in the fight against this virus.
“Vaccinations are the best way for us to protect ourselves and our families from Covid-19. We are arranging clinics across our area over the next few weeks to ensure everyone is able to get their booster or third dose vaccine.
“I would encourage everyone who has not yet received their booster vaccination to book via the online portal as soon as possible. We are also holding drop-in clinics across Highland, Argyll and Bute for first and second doses of the vaccine. Please check our website for details of clinics in your area in the coming weeks.”
