A Sutherland man has been ordered to pay his former partner compensation of £500 for causing damage to her home in Thurso after she split up with him.

Steven Sutherland (28) pleaded guilty and also admitted threatening or abusive behaviour.

Wick Sheriff Court heard on Tuesday that Alana MacLeod was away from her home in Springbank Terrace, Thurso, at the time. Their two-year relationship was said to have ended in May.

Fiscal depute, Sue Foard said that Sutherland entered her home, uninvited, on May 21, threw litter around and damaged doors. He then subjected Ms MacLeod to a serious of abusive phone calls during which he shouted and swore at her and uttered threats.

However, Sutherland, of Faskally Cottages, Brora, subsequently told her he would pay for the damage.
