Communities for Coul (C4C), the group behind a renewed bid to push forward with an ambitious plan for a championship golf course at Coul Links, Embo, has announced it has raised enough funds to make a planning application.

C4C submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Highland Council in June 2022.

The group reported on its social media page that it had reached its "full funding target" of £150,000.

C4C went on to thank everyone who had contributed to its crowdfunder.

Its post stated: "We have received generous donations from individuals, and from local businesses. In a few cases, experts whom we engaged to write studies to support the planning application have waived their fees because they believe this is such a deserving cause.

"This means we have the funds to take us through to making a full planning application.

"Thank you so much to everyone who dipped in their pockets. We will do our very best not to let you down."

The notice lets the council know that it is intended to submit a new planning application for the golf course.

A public exhibition was held in Embo in August to showcase the plan.

However a coalition of conservation groups says it remains concerned about the impact the development could have.
