Attempts are being made to find out what the landscaping plan for a Dornoch suburb is following a complaint about the lack of tree planting in new housing schemes in the town.

Former Highland Councillor Duncan Allan wrote to Dornoch Area Community Council pointing out the lack of greenery in new developments and particularly in Deans Court and Allan Gardens – a housing scheme named in his honour.

Treasurer Jerry Bishop said at the group's meeting last Wednesday: "I thought it would be sensible to find out what the landscaping plan was for Allan Gardens.

"I could not find anything online and eventually got in touch with the planning case officer who emailed me to say she would get back to me. I will follow it up and report later."

He added: "I cannot believe there is not some landscaping plan and it may well be developers are waiting until the end of the project to do that work.

"If there is not a plan, we may have to look at buying some trees and asking the developer to plant them to improve the amenity of Dornoch."
