A temporary clearway order is to be instituted from tomorrow on the A836 between Melvich and Reay, after vehicles left parked on the stretch had been deemed a “hazard”.

Highland Council say they have implemented the one-week measure due to the volume of parked vehicles on the road recently.

The legal order will be in place on the A836 Dornoch Bridge - Tongue - John o' Groats road from a point 1150 meters east of the U1807 Bighouse road junction, to a point 1000 metres west of the Layby at Drumhollistan.

The clearway will be in effect from 7am tomorrow (Tuesday, April 3) and shall remain in force until 6am on Wednesday, April 10.

A spokesperson for Highland Council said: “The clearway has been implemented due to the volume of parked vehicles on the verge and the road. They were deemed a hazard on the main road.”
