Special Christmas memories were made when the church family gathered at St Finnbarr’s Scottish Episcopal Church, Dornoch, on Sunday, December 17, to celebrate Christingle.
Christingle celebrations are named after the Christingles - oranges wrapped in ribbon, decorated with dried fruit or sweets and a candle on top - which are lit during the ceremony.
Readings, poems and prayers were read by members of the congregation and three lucky participants got to take part in their own version of the Generation Game, where they were challenged to make a Christingle in just three minutes.
Carols were sung by the congregation and more than £250 was collected for the Children’s Society, which works to improve the lives of children. Special prayers were offered for the children of Ukraine, Gaza and Israel.
Father Simon Scott, priest at St Finnbarr’s said: “What a wonderful event! Thank you to everyone who came and to everyone who read or sang. There is so much love at St Finnbarr’s, so appropriate as we celebrate God’s love coming into the world in the form of a baby."
