The annual Sutherland Christian Convention returns next weekend following an enforced interruption due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Events will be held over three evenings from Friday to Sunday, September 2-4, in the assembly hall at Dornoch Academy.

Guest speaker is Rev David Johnston, who was born and brought up in Coleraine, Northern Ireland, and whose background is one of parish ministry in his homeland.

Rev Johnston studied theology at Queen’s University, Belfast, and recently retired from his last church, Hamilton Road in Bangor, where he served for just over 25 years.

Married with four children and eight grandchildren, he has been widely recognised as an able communicator in presenting Bible truths and he will speak on the subject of Contending for the Faith.

Greer Johnston, who helps organise the convention said: “Mr Johnston’s topic for the weekend is very relevant to where our community finds itself at present.

“He will be exploring where we are at, lessons from the past to be applied, and God’s place in it all. An enlightening and profitable weekend is in prospect."

The sessions on Friday and Saturday evenings begin at 7.30pm while the Sunday session will start slightly later, at 8pm.

There will be a book stall and refreshments will be available.

Mr Johnston said: “Everyone is welcome to attend.”
