A health charity wants to hear about people's experiences of quitting smoking in the Highlands.

Anybody who has given up smoking in recent years is being encouraged to share their story about how they managed to quit.

ASH Scotland is looking for personal stories ahead of No Smoking Day on March 8.

Sheila Duffy, the charity's chief executive, said: “Research shows that two-thirds of adults in Scotland who smoke say they wish they had never started and want to quit.

“Ahead of No Smoking Day, we are keen to find out about the Highlands residents’ experiences in the last few years of making quit attempts and especially what motivated and helped them to give up smoking for good. We’d love to hear everyone’s inspirational stories, which could spur others into following their journeys towards a life free from tobacco.

“We are also interested in hearing about any challenges or barriers faced by people who haven’t yet managed to give up smoking, but are still aiming for a healthier future. We want to ensure people in the Highlands are empowered to access all the tools needed to succeed with their decision to quit smoking and to encourage people not to give up if they’ve tried to quit smoking before.”

The charity is asking people to share stories up to a maximum of 200 words by emailing: communications@ashscotland.org.uk or following the link on their website.
