It was a fundraising dancing challenge that certainly kept pupils and staff at the North Coast Campus on their toes.

A 12-hour, sponsored community ceilidh saw even the most energetic dancers flagging by the end.

But it was well worth it, with around £1300 raised for the campus, which includes Farr High School and Farr, Melvich and Tongue primaries, and also for local feis groups.

The event was held in Bettyhill Village Hall on Wednesday, March 29, and kicked off mid-morning.

Head teacher Katherine Wood said: "Primary students took it in turns to dance in the morning and senior students took the afternoon shift.

"Local residents were invited to take part in the evening and it was wonderful to see so many families enjoying themselves."

Ms Wood added: "The money raised has been astounding and we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of parents, students and our communities.

"Close to £1300 has been split between the campus and feis groups. We send a heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated money, raffle prizes and who gave of their time. It was a huge success"
