He is known as Mr Halloween and his lavish scare-fests have put Durness on the map.

But Philipp Tanzer, who operates a hair salon in the north west Sutherland village, cannot do it all himself and is appealing for help with his 2019 Halloween extravaganza.

He posted on the Durness Halloween page: “We would love to make this Halloween Festival special and unforgettable - but to make it happen we really need your help!”

This year’s festival runs from Friday to Wednesday October 25th-30th and contains all the much-loved favourites of previous years including two haunted houses -one for adults and one for children; spooky baking competition and a freaky hipsters dance.

Inspiration for his hanted houses this year came from the movie IT and Pennywise the Clown will guide the terrified round the rooms.

Local businesses also join in with Mudness Ceramics running a paint a pot workshop.

Volunteers will be put to work decorating the village hall and to clean it afterwards, as door stewards for the dance and kids’ party and as helpers at the events.

Mr Tanzer said: “There will be lots of fun, satisfaction and a team spirit is guaranteed.” Contact him via the Facebook page.
