Caithness musician Brandon McPhee set to release his first, self-penned Christmas single
Award-winning Caithness musician Brandon McPhee is to release his first, self-penned Christmas single early next month.
Christmas in Scotland is a celebration of the Castletown star's favourite season and is released on December 4 – a day before he goes on tour.
The accordionist and singer has appeared with Foster and Allen on their extensive UK tour and is looking forward to be playing a series of dates in the north and north-east next month.
He explained what audiences can expect: "I think many people who know me understand that I love Christmas, so there will be many seasonal songs alongside new country music songs, some of which I wrote, Scottish tunes and of course some popular, appropriate religious hymns. Appropriate since we’ll be performing in a number of church venues."
Brandon will be accompanied by special guests Manson Grant and Geoff McCook.
His Christmas shows start off at the Royal British Legion in Thurso on Monday, December 5. He will be appearing at the Pulteneytown Parish Church in Wick on December 6.
His other tour dates include:
Wednesday, December 7 – St John’s Church, Perth
Thursday, December 8– Portree, Isle of Skye
Friday, December 9 – British Legion Club, Dingwall
Saturday, December 10 – St Giles Church, Elgin
Sunday, December 11– Oldmeldrum British Legion, which is an afternoon show.
He is also booked for theatre tours next February at venues throughout Scotland, including Eden Court in Inverness, Aberdeen, Stirling, Stranraer and Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway.
Brandon first became interested in music at the age of 10 when he took up the three-row button key accordion. The vocals came about the age of 16 and he now sings as well as plays the accordion.
Earlier, this year he recorded a single called There's Always Me – a song which was originally released by Elvis Presley more than 60 years ago.
The track was taken from Brandon's album Mr Country. The song – described as a powerful ballad – was also released as a single six years later and was recorded along with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2015.
