Members of Brora Old Boys (BOBs), an informal golf society, are set to compete for a new trophy.

BOBs is establishing an annual 2-person scramble tournament which will be held in October for the first time.

The new trophy was presented to BOBs' captain Mark Tunstall by Alistair Risk (left) and John Macgregor.

The society was founded after World War II and still flourishes today, meeting every Tuesday summer or winter for “fun golf”.

BOBs also plays matches against similar clubs such as Golspie Old Boys and Tain Old Fellows, and members enjoy the company as much as the game.

The new competition was the idea of BOBs' members John Macgregor and Alistair Risk.

John, a craftsman and cabinet maker, made a wooden shield while Mr Risk designed miniature silver shields to put on it, on which have been engraved the names of BOBs' members past and present.

Mr Risk said: "We felt that so many people had contributed a lot to the foundation and continued success of BOBs that a competition should be held each year that recognised these stalwarts."
