Brora Golf Club shortlisted for prestigious award

An East Sutherland golf club is in the running for a prestigious award.

Brora Golf Club has made it to the shortlist in the 10th annual Scottish Golf Tourism Week Awards 2023.

It has been selected as a candidate in the Best Pro Shop category, but is facing stiff opposition from Carnoustie Golf Links, Dundonald Links and Turnberry.

The Scottish Golf Tourism Awards are run by Scottish Golf Tourism Week and DC Thomson and are aimed at celebrating the best in the industry, from clubs to courses and accommodation providers.

A spokesman said: "This year sees the introduction of some exciting new awards categories, including a new award for the country's best sustainability project which will be awarded to the Scottish golf club or facility that has undertaken a demonstrably successful sustainability project in the past year."

A panel of independent judges from across the industry will select the winners in each of the categories.

And a glittering awards ceremony has been scheduled to take place at the five-star Fairmont St Andrews resort in Fife on Thursday, February 2.

Brora professional Malcolm Murray has said: "This nomination is a great endorsement for our new shop and shows that all the hard work to get here was worth it."

Established in 1891, Brora is a James Braid designed course.
