Drivers face delays on the A9 near Evanton because of a broken down bus.

A broken down bus is causing traffic tailbacks on the A9 in Easter Ross.

The rush hour incident, reported by Traffic Scotland just before 5pm, has led to vehicles backing up in the Evanton area towards the Cromarty Bridge.

It is understood traffic is still moving but with drivers experiencing delays.

A Traffic Scotland spokeswoman said: “The A9 northbound at Evanton is restricted due to a broken down bus.

“Road users are advised to approach with caution and expect longer than normal journey times.”

Stagecoach has confirmed one of its buses is involved.

A spokesman said: “Due to a earlier broken-down vehicle on the A9 at Evanton, our services 25, X25 and X99 are currently experiencing delays around 30 minutes.

“Sorry for any inconvenience this may bring.”
