Garvault House is situated about 1.3 miles from the centre of Kinbrace.

It's unusual location, deep in the heart of the north Sutherland wilderness, has earned it a reputation as mainland Britain's most remote hotel.

Now, the attraction joins several other worldwide curiosities as part of a new Channel 4 television series entitled, "World's Most Secret Hotels".

The six-episode TV series takes a look at some of the world's most unusual accommodation choices, ranging from jungle retreats in Cambodia to converted caves in Oman.

Featured in Episode 4 as one of several 'invisible hideaways', the Garvault keeps company with hotels in Uruguay, Sweden, Oman and The Netherlands.

Each episode takes a deep dive into the origins of the hotels with a behind-the-scenes look at a typical stay.

The series is now available to stream via Channel 4's on-demand website.

The Garvault House hotel's website celebrates its unique location in the 'last great wilderness in Great Britain', making mention of the uninterrupted views over the lochs and hills of the flow country, big skies and brilliant stars that can be enjoyed by visitors.

A young guest, Pablo (aged 8) is quoted as saying of the Garvault's surroundings – “you can walk into the nothing”.
