Bridge inspections in the far north will lead to temporary closures in four locations, road users are being warned.
Highland Council says the closures are required to allow for safe inspection of the bridges in the north area.
The closures will take place at:
- Trantlemore – Strath Halladale – Upper Bighouse Road (C1113) from 10am to 1pm on Thursday, September 15.
- Dionard Bridge, Durness (A838) from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday, September 15.
- Shore Road, Lybster (C1045) from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, September 14.
- Struie Road (B9176) from 9am to 11am on Wednesday, September 14.
The C1113 Trantlemore – Strath Halladale – Upper Bighouse Road will be closed from its northernmost junction with the A897 Helmsdale – Melvich Road to where it splits, a distance of around 285 metres, from 10am to 1pm on Thursday, September 15. To avoid the road closure, an alternative route will be available via the A897 Helmsdale – Melvich Road and a section of the C1113 Trantlemore – Strath Halladale – Upper Bighouse Road.
The A838 Dionard Bridge, Durness will be closed from 3pm to 5pm on Thursday, September 15. No alternative route is provided.
The C1045 Shore Road, Lybster will be closed from its junction with C1045 Main Street to its termination, a distance of around 880 metres, from 2pm to 4pm on Wednesday, September 14. No alternative route is available.
The B9176 Struie Road will be closed from its junction with A836 Dornoch Bridge – Bonar Bridge Road to its junction with U1878 Edderton – Mudh-A-Blair Road from 9am to 11am on Wednesday, September 14. An alternative route will be available via the A836 Dornoch Bridge – Bonar Bridge Road and U1878 Edderton – Mudh-A-Blair Road.
The closures apply to all vehicles except vehicles employed to carry out the bridge inspections and their associated traffic management. Emergency vehicles are exempt.
The Highland Council said it apologises for any inconvenience caused by these necessary bridge inspections.
