Missing snow monkey Honshu is captured using tranquilliser dart

The snow monkey missing from the Highland Wildlife Park has been safely caught around two miles away from home after a tip-off from the public.
The young Japanese Macaque - named as Honshu – was found earlier this morning and is currently being checked over by staff after being tranquillised.

It is hoped that he will be able to return to his enclosure soon.
The monkey escaped from its enclosure on Sunday after it is thought it was spooked by rival males during a mating season disturbance.
Keith Gilchrist, living collections operations manager at the Highland Wildlife Park confirmed to the Strathy that the runaway had been captured after a four-day search.
He said: “We can confirm we have successfully caught the macaque that escaped from the park on Sunday, named Honshu.
"After a call to our hotline just after 10am our keepers and drone team made their way to a member of the public’s garden where the monkey was eating from a birdfeeder and successfully used a tranquiliser dart to catch him.
“The monkey is on the way back to the park with our keepers where he will be looked over by one of our vet team and reintroduced to sub-adult males within the group.
“We want to thank everyone who has helped during the process and will continue to share any further updates.”
Even the Cairngorms Mountain Rescue Team was called in to assist with the monkey search by lending their thermal imaging drone.
