Boy (15) faces murder charge after man's death in Alness

A 15-year-old boy has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on a charge of murder.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, made no plea, was committed for further examination and released on bail.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Police received a report of a disturbance in Milnafua, Alness, at around 12.30am on Saturday, June 17.

“Emergency services attended and a 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A 15-year-old male has been arrested and has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the death.

“Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries since the incident was reported and these enquiries are ongoing.

“This was an isolated incident and there was no risk to the wider public. Officers will be carrying out additional patrols in the area and members of the public are encouraged to speak to a police officer if they have any concerns.”
