A charity bingo event was held in Bonar Bridge on Saturday May 21 as players did their bit for World IBD Day.

The fundraiser, sponsored by Bonar Bridge Chemist, took place in the Bonar Bridge village hall and raised a sum of £600 for Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

Bingo games were played followed by a raffle, with teas and coffees laid on for those in attendance.

The charity was established to fund the research and study of the two main forms of inflammatory bowel disease, crohn’s and colitis.

World IBD Day is designed to raise awareness of inflammatory bowel disease, a term that is used when speaking about Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Councillor for north, west and central Sutherland, Michael Baird, was in attendance to formally open the event.

Mr Baird said: "Since Covid, this is the first event that people have been able to come out to since restrictions were lifted.

"Well done to the chemist and everyone who helped to put the event together. It has raised a valuable amount for the charity."
