Evanton-based charity Blythswood Care announces new chief executive designate as son of Lochcarron man who set up organisation in 1966
THE son of a Wester Ross man who set up Christian charity Blythswood Care is set to lead the organisation after being named chief executive designate.
Blythswood Care has named Rev Jeremy Ross, currently minister of New City Church, Dunfermline, as its chief executive designate. He will take up the post in October, initially shadowing chief executive James Campbell, who has served the organisation for over 25 years and who will retire in early 2024.
A son of the late Rev Jackie Ross, Blythswood’s founder and president, Jeremy was brought up in Lochcarron and has considerable knowledge of Blythswood’s past and present activities having worked for the organisation from 1998 to 2007 and having served as a trustee since 2021.
Jeremy said: “Since joining the board I’ve become more passionate about continuing the impact for good Blythswood has had on millions of people, both by sharing Good News and by helping with other aspects of life.”
David Laing, chairman of Blythswood’s trustees, says: “We were searching for a successor who shares our core conviction that everyone needs salvation through Jesus; someone who loves working with people – colleagues, volunteers, project partners and those who support Blythswood prayerfully and financially; and someone who will build on our history and James’ unique legacy to take the organisation forward into the next phase of its ministry – recognising that it is God who directs and resources what we do."
The charity, which has a global reach, has its head office at Highland Deephaven, Evanton.
The charity's mission is to transform lives through the impact of education, community action and gospel activities. It was founded in 1966 and in addition to its head office in Evanton operates 18 shops throughout Scotland and a further eight in Northern Ireland.
It's annual shoebox appeal has reached thousands of people down the years and galvanised a massive annual support network of volunteers and well-wishers.
